Top attractions at Alton Towers

For the little ones

Despite the dreaded height restrictions on many of Alton Tower’s large attractions and rollercoasters, there is still plenty for the kids to enjoy. Aimed at children between the ages of 1 and 6, CBeebies Land caters to those that don’t quite meet the 1-meter average height restriction for rides within the theme park.

A standard Alton Towers ticket includes entry to CBeebies land, and under 3s are welcome completely free. You’ll find around 15 different attractions to explore; let your little ones join Postman Pat for his daily round, explore the prehistoric world in Andy’s Adventure Dinosaur Dig or go on a thrilling ride on the Go Jetters Vroomster Zoom ride.

More than a theme park

Located next to Alton Towers, is its huge waterpark. Part of the Splash Landings hotel, you can either visit for the day or combine your visit with an overnight stay at this Caribbean-themed hotel. Booking one of the Stay, Splash and Play packages can save you up to £40 per person and unlocks entry to Extraordinary Golf and breakfast the next morning.

The Alton Towers Waterpark combines indoor and outdoor rides for all ages so that you can visit anytime and with the whole family. Float down the lazy river, whizz through the Master Blaster or take your pick of 10 other slides to slip down.

Rollercoaster thrills

A mecca for thrill seekers, Alton Towers boasts a number of world-famous, adrenaline-inducing rides that aren’t for the faint of heart. Here are just a few fan favourites:

  • The Smiler. As the world’s first rollercoaster with 14 loops and reaching 85km/hour speeds, The Smiler is bound to deliver a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
  • Galactica. Once known as Air, Galactica aims to defy gravity and simulate the sensation of flight.
  • Nemesis Reborn. A new ride for 2024, Nemesis Reborn is the second inverted rollercoaster to be built at any theme park in the world.
